Sunrise Primary Care offers Personal Attendant Services (PAS), which is a Medicaid benefit that provides personal care in the home by an attendant who will assist the client with everyday tasks. All referrals for PAS come from caseworkers with the Department of Aging and Disability Services, or directly from HMOs, Wellpoint, Molina, Superior, Aetna, the VA, and United Healthcare. Companionship is an important part of the services our attendants provide. Having a friendly visit with someone who cares can go a long way towards fighting depression in the elderly. Attendants can also be brought in to provide other caregivers, such as family members, with respite.

Bathing: Can be stand-by assistance or a full bath, depending on the client’s needs.

Dressing: Helping to get in and out of clothing. 

 

Grooming, Skin Care, Personal Hygiene: Assistance with all aspects of grooming, such as brushing hair, putting on lotion, brushing teeth.

 

Exercising: Encourage clients to ambulate frequently and perform daily exercises to build strength and endurance.

Toileting: Can be stand-by assistance or help with transfers between toilet and wheelchair.

Cleaning: Assistance with light housekeeping, such as vacuuming, sweeping, doing the dishes, or taking out trash.

 

Other Services: Meal preparation, feeding, appointment or shopping escort services, assistance with medication reminders and laundry services may also be performed as required by the client’s needs.​​

All of these tasks are determined by the referring agency, as well as how many hours the client will receive. Caseworkers will determine how many hours and days a week the client qualifies for based on their level of need.
